Font Basics For Branding Your Small Business
To project the brand identity, there are so many ways; like logo, color palette, font choice, and the visual vocabulary. You can get a lot of data and information with respect to; how to aptly employ the logos, colors, and visual vocabulary, yet not much on the effective use of fonts. So, here's some information on the creative, practical, and technical aspects of fonts.
Let us think over, how the branding proves helpful in stabilizing and promoting your current business? To achieve this, you go ahead to plan many things, which encompass very professionally crafted business cards, the attractive letters heads as well as the appealing envelops. All these printed materials which prominently add the logo, name of the company and so on, is made possible by projecting some of the superb display fonts.
Why do you this, either it isn't possible through simple fonts or simple promotional material. Primarily, the quality of your business card and all promotional material is an indication of the status of your business and your clients are intelligent enough to understand the difference between a standard designed perforated ...
... business card and a professionally designed business card printed on good quality card stock.
Thus, once you have established your brand with a professionally designed logo, business card and other promotional material, it becomes much easier for you to build your credibility among the customers.
Now let us discuss, about the fonts or font groups which play tremendous role in achieving the objectives set forth by you before establishing any company or entrepreneur.
The fonts or font groups are exclusively sets of fonts that add all of the varied versions of a font. Using fonts with large families will give you a wide range of fonts to use in your materials, for variety and emphasis. There are many basic categories of fonts.
Out of many categories, four common types of fonts are like; Serif fonts, which have little "feet," called serifs, at the ends of the lines that make up the letters. Some examples of serif fonts include Times, Palatino, and Garamond. These fonts are more traditional, elegant, and old-fashioned.
As far as Sans-serif fonts are concerned they don't add the same feet like Serifs, thus Sans serif means without serifs. Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, and Helvetica are some of the most common sans-serif fonts. These fonts are more clean and modern. Script fonts are calligraphic or cursive fonts. Brush Script and Nuptial Script are two common script fonts.
The fonts which are employed in logos are called display fonts - which are ostensibly very attractive and often used for logos or headlines.
There are other types of fonts as well, including handwriting fonts and all-caps fonts. However, the four listed above are the most common and useful in business communications.
