A vibrating feeder or vibratory feeder is a machine that vibrates and allows loose materials to be conveyed or transferred along the production line. They are widely used in mining, building-material, silicate and chemical industry in the crushing and screening plants. They are called feeders as they 'feed' material to a process or machine. They use both vibration and gravity to move the material. Generally the material is dry, not liquid, because it needs some assistance from the vibration to move down.

Common vibrating feeders are cone shaped. One example of this would be to count pills. A large batch of pills would be put in the top and then gravity would pull the pills towards the bottom of the feeder where they can exit one at a time so to enable counting. Once the right amount of pills have passed through the base the feed is stopped until a new bottle or container is in place. The vibration movement allows all the pills to move freely without getting congested. A good way to explain this is if you ever played with sand as a child. If you ever poured sand through a funnel at the beach and then it ...
... getting stuck so you had to tap the funnel to get the sand moving. The same principle applies with vibrating feeders.

Vibrating feeders comes in many shapes and sizes but all use the same principle, which is to feed bulk material in at the top in a controlled manor and then take material out at the bottom at a controlled and steady rate. You can get them made bespoke by some top engineering companies who will come out and see what the process and what you are trying to achieve.

The great features of the vibrating feeder are that they vibrate smoothly, have adjustable power so the flow rate can be changed and controlled at any time. They create low noise and use little power. And the structure is quite simple and is easily installed and easy to use.

If you're looking for a feeder to aid your manufacturing process there are many top engineering companies in the country. What is important is to find a reputable company that offer after sales service.
