Quad biking generally takes place off road, so that the driver can experience the thrills of a fully functioning race environment, complete with dirt tracks and other cross land courses. This makes quad biking events quite similar to motocross and such biking events that take place in an off road environment.

What are they?

You may not know much about them, but a quad bike is essentially a motorbike with four wheels and lower suspension and ride height. They came to prominence in the 70's, and have continued their rise ever since.

With the recent development of the road legal quad, a type of quad bike that is completely road legal and can be used on public roads as if they were motorbikes or cars, more and more parents have looked into the possibility of purchasing a quad bike for their child.

When buying for a child, a parent will have many obvious concerns, and it is only natural to want the best and most safe vehicle for your child; you want to reduce injury risk and make sure the bike never breaks down. By making sure that you purchase a quad bike from a major manufacturer, you can ensure that ...
... the bike is not only safe, but less likely to break down. In addition, if the worst happens and it does break down, you can be sure that parts will be easy to come by and readily available for a low price.

Speaking with the dealer

It is a good idea to have a chat with a local quad bike dealer in depth if you are new to the world of quad bikes, this will ensure that you get the right bike for the job. They are usually very knowledgeable and helpful, and can guide you to the idea bike. You must also take into consideration the height of the child, as a full sized quad may be too large for them.

The child must be able to fully control their quad bike in order for it to be safe to drive. They must be able to reach the handle bars easily, as well as the acceleration and breaking controls. Don't be tempted to buy a size larger than needed so that they grow into it, as this can be unsafe; bikes can usually be resold for a good price, so you won't lose out at any point.

Road legal quad bikes can generally make it up to speeds that cars and motorbikes can achieve, making them safe to use on public roads. Quad bikes are easy to manoeuvre in small spaces and can accelerate quickly. The cost of insurance is usually low, and additional passengers can ride on some models.
