Pittsburgh, the city of three rivers, has countless exciting things to do and see. Whether traveling for business or pleasure, why not extend your stay at a downtown Pittsburgh hotel and check out one or all of these top ten attractions:

The Point

The Point, officially Point State Park, is located downtown at the confluence of Pittsburgh's three rivers (Allegheny, Monongahela, Ohio.) It has a large lawn for picnicking, sports, or seeing free concerts, as well as a lovely tree-lined waterfront and grand fountain which is a lovely spot to take in the scenery.

Duquesne Incline

Just across the Monongahela River is the Duquesne Incline, a functioning inclined railway that has been in use since the late 19th century. It lets you off at Mount Washington, which affords incredible views of the city and its surroundings, including the iconic Heinz Field.

River Views

Another great way to take in the views of the city is on one of the rivers. Catch a boat from Station Square, in Pittsburgh's South side. There are daytime, evening and meal cruises available.

Oakland Neighborhood

The ...
... Oakland neighborhood is home to the University of Pittsburgh and a number of interesting attractions, including the sprawling Carnegie Museum, which includes museums of both natural history and art. Also in Oakland is the Cathedral of Learning, the second-tallest academic building in the world, located on the University of Pittsburgh's campus. Inside are the Nationality Rooms, working classrooms that are decorated to reflect the culture of their respective countries.

The Strip

The Strip District, a neighborhood along the Allegheny River, is an exciting shopping district, with numerous ethnic food stores, bakeries and restaurants.

Shadyside

Ellsworth Avenue in Shadyside is a popular shopping area, with upscale brand-name stores, as well as unique local shops and boutiques, as well as eateries.

Stadiums Galore

The sports stadiums on the North Side, Heinz Field for football, and PNC Park for baseball, are great places to take in a game, which often end with elaborate fireworks displays. Take in the fireworks from the Sixth Street Bridge and get a view of the city skyline as your enjoy the show.

Breakfast Bonanza

Pamela's Restaurant is a must-eat for breakfast; there are several locations for this local chain, including Oakland, Shadyside, the Strip district (where President Obama has eaten) and Squirrel Hill.

Squirrel Hill Neighborhood

The shopping district along Forbes and Murray Avenues in Squirrel Hill includes countless stores and restaurants, as well as two small movie theaters, one located on nearby Forward Ave.

Parks and Rec

Frick and Schenley Parks, the city's two largest parks, are located in Squirrel Hill and Oakland, respectively, and are both great places for relaxing, playing sports, or taking a walk in the woods.

There is so much to see and do in Pittsburgh, and there are a number of beautiful, affordable Pittsburgh hotels to make your stay as relaxing as it is exciting.
