A Quick Article About The Bmw Brand And Some Of Their Popular Models

Prior to 1918, BMW only made engines for airplanes, but after WWI they moved away from aircraft engine production and in 1923 started to focus on the production of motorcycles.
Just a few years later from 1928-1929, they began to take on the car industry, making cars like the Dixi 3-15 DA which was one of their first production cars.
Even though the Great Depression had taken hold, the Dixi 3-1 DA helped to carry BMW through an event that destroyed countless companies.
Just 6 years later in 1936 BMW returned with the BMW type roadster, which became a high-selling model and one of the most successful and popular sports cars of the era.
After 1949, BMW continued to develop new vehicles, creating the six cylinder 501, the 502 with a V8 engine, the BMW 507, the four cylinder BMW 1500, the 1600, 1800 and the very popular BMW 2002.
The power of these models helped to set BMW apart as a clear leader in the field of sports car production and by 1970 the company became the renowned and innovative company that they still are today.
Throughout the early years of their history, the BMW New Class, ...
... a range of models incorporating sedans and sporting coupes, were created and developed right up until 2002.
It was the popularity of the New Class range that impressed car fans and really set BMW in good stead to become an established global car maker.
All of the cars in the New Class range had the same four-cylinder M10 BMW engine; they also boasted an independent suspension system and front disc brakes that give the cars and added element of high-class safety.
Good examples of these models are the 3 Series, the 7 series and the X3 SUV.
Now in its fifth generation, the mid-sized executive BMW 3 Series is currently in its fifth generation of production. This model has been a hit with consumers and has been developed further as the E90 and E92 and the station wagon E91 and convertible E93 models. It has even been adapted into the 5 Series Gran Turismo, which is a fusion of a station wagon and a crossover SUV.
Perhaps the most popular executive sedan from BMW is the 7 Series and it has even inspired a couple of other models. This can attribute much of its success to the iDrive technology as it was BMW's first foray into the hydrogen fuelled combustion engine, which leaves no emissions besides water.
The first crossover model to be made by BMW is the X3 SUV which is an off-road car that resembles the Jeep or Land Rover. These models, dubbed 'Sports Activity Vehicles' or 'Sports Activity Coupes' have seen many different improvements with various new cars being placed on the market allowing BMW to have a broader range as a manufacturer rather than just a sport coupe manufacturer. This car has also been instrumental in drumming up a lot of interest with superb handling, great performance and innovative features.
Efficiency is something that BMW has actively developed and promoted within the industry. The company is a charter member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and it is also an active member of a scheme called the South Carolina Environmental Excellence Program.
BMW is concerned about the current state of CO2 emissions and actively contributes to the cause by making a couple of alternative fuels and engines with increased efficiency. You can experience these features if you choose to purchase one of their newer models or you may prefer leasing a BMW instead.
