Symptoms Of Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is an condition which is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi that is present in tiny creatures like mice. The syndrome is transferred to humans by ticks that get the infection when they bite creatures infected by the syndrome then bite humans, passing the infection directly into the bloodstream. The infection can infect several body systems including the nervous system, joints, skin and the heart. The infection is generally linked to grassy or woody areas.
Symptoms of Lyme Disease
It is quite difficult to see a tick on your body and they are often ignored. Therefore, it is really vital to be on the lookout for signs of lyme infection. The symptoms occur in three stages:
1. A circular rash is the earliest sign of lyme infection and surfaces within 1-2 weeks of contracting the disease. The rash normally has a well-defined bulls eye form with a red spot that is surrounded by clear, ringed skin. The rash is normally warm when touched but is neither itchy nor painful. The rash vanishes after about 1 month although some people do not develop this rash.
2. Flu-like symptoms are ...
... experienced accompanied by swollen lymph nodes, headache, muscle aches and fatigue. If left untreated, these symptoms will vanish by themselves but in some people they spread to other sections of the body. The symptoms experienced in this phase appear quite a few weeks after been bitten by a tick. The victim will experience fatigue even if they never noticed a rash.
3. In this phase, arthritis and memory failures are experienced. These symptoms may appear even in people who never had the indications that appear in the first two phases. The indications in this last phase occurs mainly to adults but is rarely experienced by children and teens.
Lyme disease may distress the heart resulting in an irregular heart beat or pain in the chest. It extends to the nervous system which in turn brings about facial paralysis accompanied by tingling and numbness in the arms and legs. Incidences of pain and swelling in the joints and temperament variations are widespread. Headaches, fever, chill and stiffness of the neck are also indications of Lyme disease.
Detection
The indications of Lyme disease are wide making it hard for physicians to detect. The most effective way to identify the infection is by doing a specific blood test that checks for proof of the bodys reaction to Lyme disease.
