Strange Christmas Traditions

When you think of Christmas traditions, things such as putting up the Christmas decorations, carol singing, Christmas pudding and the Queens's speech, spring to mind. However there are some pretty strange Christmas traditions that take place all over the world. For example in Catalonia a Caga Tio or 'pooping log' tradition is widespread. This Spanish custom centres on a hollowed out log, which is decorated with a face and given arms and legs, to look like an animal. Starting on December 8th, this bizarre ritual involves feeding the log with sweets and nuts etc. Then come Christmas Eve or Christmas day it's put into a fireplace and ordered to 'poop' them all out. What makes it even stranger is that it is encouraged to do so by being beaten with a stick and having songs sung to it!
Well here at findmeagift.com you don't have to beat us with a stick to get our Christmas goodies flowing out. In fact all you have to do is click on our products and we'll despatch them straight to your door! We're overflowing with Christmas present ideas! With gifts to suit everyone, you could start ...
... your own tradition of getting all your Christmas shopping done in the same day and from the comfort of your own home too!

In Norway all brooms, mops and brushes in houses are hidden on Christmas Eve. However this isn't because housework is banished at Christmas, but because Norwegian myths had most believing that witches and evil spirits came out, looking for the brooms to ride on! But don't worry you can still unwrap a fabulous Henry the Desktop Hoover on Christmas morning! This cute little Hoover is an adorable desktop version of the original Henry Vacuum Cleaner and is also available in a pink 'Hetty' version. Both are powered by 2 x AA batteries and will Hoover their little wheels off, picking up the crumbs from your desk.
In Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, the roads are closed off on Christmas Eve so the people can roller skate to mass. Hmm, not sure whether that wheeled festive craze would catch on here! However there is one six wheeled phenomenon that was a huge hit back in the 80's and it's gloriously back again, to the excitement of grownups just as much as kids. Yes, Big Trak is back! This terrific tank still has all the same fabulous features, such as a programmable keypad on its back, the awesome looking blue Photon Cannon beam and a super set of stickers too. It can perform 16 commands in one sequence, which is enough to manoeuvre it from the couch to whoever has the tin of chocolates and back again!
Slovakia and the Ukraine have one of the bizarrely messiest Christmas traditions. A traditional Christmas dish called Loksa (made out of bread, poppy seed filling and water) is thrown up at the ceiling at the beginning of Christmas Eve dinner, by the head of the family. The more of the mixture that sticks to the ceiling the better the crops will be for the family the following year. Obviously this could get a bit messy for those gathered around the table, which is where the Pink Twilight Umbrella - Double Sided Colour Changing Star Umbrella would come in handy!
This gorgeous umbrella will dazzle the socks of everybody, including the person sheltered underneath it! This is because this beautiful Twilight Double Sided Umbrella has fibre optic stars inside and out, which will give a stunning light show on both sides. You can dance in the rain like a little ray of sunshine as your pretty umbrella phases through the colours of the rainbow.
What seems normal to some can seem odd to others. Even simple things like enjoying Christmas in the sunshine. Somehow Christmas decorations abroad just look so peculiar when bathed in glorious weather, especially when you're used to it being wintery at home. Countries in the Southern Hemisphere, such as Australia and New Zealand are in the middle of their summer. So naturally locals take to the beach for Christmas day! If you're thinking of doing the same, but in colder climates, then why not kit everyone out with a super cosy Slanket this Christmas.
We've got an amazing range of Slankets to suit everyone. There are Slankets for kids, for adults and even Double Slankets for couples, as well as handy Slanket Travel Blankets too! All of which are available in a variety of fantastic colours and prints. These wonderfully warm fleece blankets are machine washable and come with the convenience of sleeves. This means that you can still make sandcastles, eat your Christmas dinner or simply sit and read on the beach!
Findmeagift.com stocks such a diverse range of gifts, from the usual to completely out of the ordinary. So if you're looking for some more marvellous ideas for Christmas presents, then just get online and click away!
