Safety training is one of the first priorities which need to be attended to by organizations which have a major strength of their work force operating heavy and massive machines in workshops and plants. This form of training is imparted to the workers by the safety officer or the individual who is in charge of safety before they proceed to the factory with the three-fold objective of ensuring the safety of the workers, guaranteeing protection to the company's assets and helping to realize the organization's goals.

Safety training in most organizations is the domain of the safety committee which consists of well trained safety officers whose job is to provide safety education to employees at all levels starting from managers and supervisors to machine operators and daily wage workers. An important part of their job description is also to bring about a change in the training technique as per the situation or incorporate new topics to accommodate a changing scenario. It is the efficacy of these officers which ensures that this training is practiced by the employees during their everyday work schedule and that they are sufficiently inspired by the learning process to continue with it even after the formal training is long over.
