Ayurvedic treatment for cholesterol

In Ayurveda, heart disease is known as hridoy roga, which is caused by building up cholesterol in the coronary arteries. This accumulation of excess cholesterol in the body system can be reduced by following several Ayurvedic approaches. There is a famous herb called arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) used in the study of Ayurveda. It has the property to reduce the accumulation of excess cholesterol in the body. Two major among them are Arjunarishta and Arjuna Ghritam. Other commonly used Ayurvedic medications are Hridayarnava Rasa and Prabhakara Vati.
