Choosing The Best Pet Bird For You
Careful planning should be made before you buy a bird to keep as pet. Although they are not very hard to maintain, they still need to be fed, groomed and provided with clean drinking water in order to be healthy. Besides this, you cannot just buy any bird; you have to get a bird that will fit into your life and personality. It is best that you read about birds and learn everything about them before plunging yourself into something that you are not familiar with. Here are a few things that you have to bear in mind before buying a pet bird.
a) For your bird to be healthy, you have to let him fly even inside the cage. This will provide him with some form of exercise in order to be healthy and strong. Keeping him inside the cage would cause him to be stressed and eventually get sick.
Letting birds out of the cage and encouraging them to fly is a good form of exercise for pet birds.
b) His cage must be large and be placed in a spacious and airy room, with enough space where his food tray and water holder can be placed. His perch should also fit snuggly into the cage to provide the bird with something to rest ...
... on.
c) If possible, purchase two birds instead of only one. A bird can be lonely if alone, he will need a companion especially if you are always out. Having another bird with him will make your pet healthier physically and emotionally which keeps stress and boredom from setting in.
d) The need to let them fly around would require you to have screened windows to make sure that the birds cannot get outside the house.
e) Having a pet is a great responsibility, it's a living being that you must take care of and keep from harm. Not only do you have to fed, bathe, and provide water for them to drink but you also have to clean their cage to keep them from getting sick because of dirty surroundings.
f) To get a pet that is surely healthy, adopt a bird from your local veterinarian who can provide you with the bird's history, medical or otherwise.
Owning such a pet at home is sometimes a hard thing to do. When you selected the right pet bird for you, you will have an incomparable joy with the entertainment it can give you and your family.
