Original art is cherished and loved all over the globe and is one of the fastest growing areas of entertainment in the world generating millions of dollars per year! Art has been around since the beginning of time and has (obviously) changed tremendously. Whether it be paintings—watercolor, oil, mixed media, etc.—ceramics, pottery or sculpture, everyone can find some form of art they love, and even better, find something amazing to accentuate their home or office.

Whatever your preference, if you are looking to buy art, there are several factors you should take into consideration and keep in mind throughout the process. First of all, you should know that in addition to original pieces of art, you can also find a lot of reprinted or reproduced art. If you are looking for an original piece of art that is 100% authentic, you should ensure that the piece you are contemplating buying is indeed authentic and not reproduced art.

Wouldn't it feel good to know that in the entire world, you are the only person to own a piece of art? Yes, I thought so. Owing original art and keeping it in top quality condition ...
... will only add to the value of the piece over time, and eventually you may have a small fortune on hand.

Most people don't know how to find original art or how to differentiate reprints from the originals. If you want to buy art online, be careful.
Some websites will try to scam you and tell you an art piece is original art when in fact, it is a reprint. So check your sources, do some research, and find some trustworthy, reliable resources that state clearly whether the piece is an original art or a reprint. You can buy art online, from a gallery, or even dealers or directly from artists. Either way, when you decide to buy art make sure your piece comes with a COA (certificate of authenticity) to insure your piece is legit.

One sure way to make sure your purchase of original art is legit is to find websites or galleries that promote new and up coming artists. New artists generally never have any work reproduced, and by knowing this, you can be sure your not being scammed. Most reprinted artwork is crated by companies that reproduce popular ‘big name' artist's work, which is commonly called cookie cutter or motel art.

Keeping these few short suggestions in mind when you're looking to buy art, whether original or reprinted, should keep you on the right path. Just remember: research—it'll never lead you astray. Never give in to impulse when making such purchase, and always, always ask for a COA. Spending time on these details will save you in the end lots of money.

Nowadays you also count on a very useful tool: The Internet. Do your research online and find out all you need to know about Modern Art or Pop Art in order to make the best of your resources at the time of purchasing a piece of art.
