Where can you find eight of the tallest mountains in the world, the Yeti, people speaking obscure languages and the birthplace of the Buddha? In the country of Nepal! This exotic region has been a destination for adventurers and pilgrims for centuries. It has seen marauding hordes of Mongols, European adventurers, Tibetan monks, and people seeking the roots of Buddhism or wishing to supplicate themselves at a glorious Hindu temple. This has made the languages and culture of the Kathmandu Valley in which Nepal is located one of the most intricate and foreboding in the world. If you crave adventure Nepal trekking through the Kathmandu Valley is the perfect experience.

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal. It is also ground zero for people wishing to climb Mount Everest. The mountain climbers usually come into the city in search of Sherpa to guide them and carry their loads up the mountains. The Sherpa are strong, sure footed and used to the low oxygen at high altitudes. Very few serious attempts have been made on Mount Everest without the support of Sherpa.

Many religious pilgrims also visit Kathmandu. The first Buddha ...
... was born in Nepal. This has led to the construction of several venerated shrines within the country, many of which are located in Kathmandu. The streets of Kathmandu are always packed with Buddhists going to and from the temples chanting and burning incense. India, one of Nepal's neighbors, has tens of millions of Hindus. This has given rise to a large Hindu population and many Hindu temples in Nepal, especially in Kathmandu.

And then there is the Yeti. This mysterious giant half-man half-beast has inspired many to go Nepal trekking in hopes of capturing, killing or at least catching a glimpse of it. Want to see the Yeti? Go Nepal trekking!
