The movement insisted that popular culture customs should be treated equal to ‘fine art'.

Popular art sources such as comic books, advertising, and other everyday objects are used in Pop Art. This type of art is often criticized as tasteless and trite by society, but people often fail to realize that this style is a key element in today's mass-produced culture.
