Compare Flight Prices - Geneva Sightseeing Attractions
If you've never been to Geneva, you have no idea of what you are missing because if you did, you'd grab a ticket right away and hop on the next available plane to that great city. Well, luckily for anyone reading this article, you can compare flight prices as there are tons of flights going to Switzerland and Geneva in particular. I am going to whet your appetite so that when you get to Geneva, you can hit the ground running with the checklist of attractions to see and experience. Also, if you're serious about going to Switzerland cheap flights will not pose a problem. So, here goes
i.Lake Geneva (Lac Leman): You have to know that this lake has two very important distinctions; it is shared by France and Switzerland. It is also the largest lake in the whole of central Europe. Picturesque, quaint, breathtaking, astonishing, inspiring are just some of the words that would qualify the view from the shores of this place. If your imagination is fertile enough, think of seeing the blue glassy beauty ...
... of a lake against the background of snow-tipped peaks of the Alps. Did you get the picture right? Whatever your answer might be, that picture you formed falls far short of the real deal. The chalet villages sprinkled around the lake has drawn many tourists and celebrities who have in turn drawn inspiration from its pearly and astonishing beauty.
ii.Palais des Nations (United Nations): Although the United Nations Headquarters now sits in New York, it all started from Geneva. Till this day, the original structure that was built to house the predecessor to the United Nations, The League of Nations and inherited by its successor, remains. The Palais des Nations is still a UN station, the biggest as a matter of fact. When you do visit, don't be shocked when a peacock darts across your line of vision; they were a request made upon bequeathing the land to the City of Geneva. So, they run freely on the grounds of the Palais des Nations.
iii.Museum of Art and History: Have you ever seen a painting by Van Gogh or Renoir? This is one place where you'll be sure to see them for sure. This museum was built between 1903 and 1910. That's a long time ago and it houses more than 7, 000 exhibits. These exhibits cut across archaeology, fine arts as well as applied arts, some of all these dating as far back as the middle ages.
iv.Jet d' Eau: If you ever have to just get into Geneva, drop off the plane and then hop back on in saythirty minutes, please make sure this is the only thing you get to see! Why, you may ask. Well, for starters, it is the tallest fountain in the world and for the avoidance of doubt, let me give you the statistics; it is projected to a height of 460 feet, and this projection is done at the speed of 200 km/hr. All this helps to pump out 500 liters of water every second. It is an absolutely astonishing sight.
