Purchasing a GPS can be difficult as the marketplace is full of a wide range of models, offering many different features.

As a result of this here are some things you should remember before buying a GPS.

1) In the current market there are three types of sat-nav available. Their names are integrated based systems, plug and go systems and portable systems.

Integrated based systems: This system is integrated straight into your cars system and is built to interact with many of the cars features. The downside of this system is the price tag. On the other hand the system will be a constant feature in your car and will not need to be moved around.

Plug and go systems: These sat-navs are much cheaper than the integrated sat-navs and can be used in more than one vehicle. The main problem with this sat-nav is that it can be inconvenient and luring to thieves, as they can easily be taken from a car.

Portable systems: These are the cheapest and most portable option of all the Sat Nav Systems because you can apply this sat-nav to your mobile phone. The downside is that the display is on your phone which ...
... can make it hard to read the maps. There could also be network charges from your service provider.

2) Next, consider the size and visibility of the screen. The display quality and size should be of a high standard even in very bright light or poorly lit conditions, the screen should always remain clearly visible. You want to avoid situations where you could be travelling and lose visibility, the screen needs to be consistently bright enough to view, as well as being non-reflective and constantly visible.

3) GPS coverage is also important to consider before buying your sat-nav. You need to guarantee that your new sat-nav won't crash if you drive through a wooded or crowded area. The last thing you want to happen is for you to get lost and look to see your sat-nav has no coverage and refuses to produce a way home. Make sure you look into particular specifications and ratings of specific GPS models.

4) Ensure that it has both audio and visual description capabilities. This is important for two reasons: Firstly, you shouldn't have to look away from the road whilst driving so audio instructions will be much safer during journeys. Secondly, the text aspect can be handy if you want to re-read the instructions, if you didn't hear it the first time.

5) Are there any extra features offered? Information is available from some sat-nav systems about speed camera locations and hot spots for traffic and congestion. These additional features can safeguard you from instances where you get stuck in a traffic jam and can enable you to lower your speed before you get to a speed camera.

Follow these tips and then whether you've had your car forever or you've just taken out a Chrysler leasing deal then you'll have no problem reaching your destination.
