What is traditional photography? Traditional photography is posed and planned. Think of family group portraits, couple portraits with elders, and ritual shots such as the Phera or Anand Karaj. It gives you clean, formal images that look good in an album for decades.

What is candid photography? Candid photography captures moments as they happen: a bride laughing with her cousins, a father wiping a tear at the Doli, the groom's friends mid-dance. The photographer stays in the background and the pictures feel natural.

Which should you choose?

Choose traditional coverage for ceremonies, family lists and portraits you will frame.
Choose candid coverage for Mehndi, Sangeet, getting-ready and Reception moments.
Choose a team that does both if your guest list is large and multi-generational.

How to make it work

Write a shot list of family combinations before the day.
Ask the photographer to schedule portrait time so it does not eat into the rituals.
Tell the team which moments matter most to you, such as grandparents' blessings.
Review a sample gallery to check that candid ...
... and posed images both look polished.
