Letter To Dispute Credit
For some people, writing a letter to dispute credit differences is almost too much. They just can’t wrap their minds around it. In truth, disputing credit differences is not that hard.
You need to be armed with the facts in order to write the dispute letter about your credit. Dashing off a letter saying that you totally disagree with the credit company about your account won’t do an ounce of good, unless you can prove why.
Have your account statement, or your credit bureau report handy to be able to show the proof that you are concerned about. If it is a charge or credit account that you are disputing, be specific as to what parts of it you are in disagreement about.
For example, is there a $4,000 charge for a trip to Australia on your Visa that you never made? If you’ve never been outside of the United States, then that would be a definite red flag and something that the company should have noticed anyway.
Start out writing a rough draft of the letter, at the very beginning. Place your name and address at the top left, with the date at the very top ...
... right. Underneath that, place the name and address of the creditor or credit bureau with whom you have the dispute.
In the first sentence, state briefly but concisely, what your problem is, and in the following paragraph, be more specific. Creating a letter to dispute credit is not all that difficult, really. Finally, explain what you would like to be done to resolve the problem. Politely thank them.
Writing to a credit bureau will require you to ask them to verify or delete information. Tell them why, and if possible, show them proof. Remind them politely that their job impacts your lifestyle in many ways, and being denied credit will have such a negative impact on you, and why.
On the other hand, writing to the credit card companies is a little different. While they want facts as well, they will sometimes require a police report especially if your dispute is stating that your credit card was stolen.
Once you have come up with a rough draft, sit down and look and over. Does it make sense? Have you included all the facts that are needed to make your point?
Now take the time to tighten up everything that you’ve written in the letter so far. Make sure that the facts are correct. Ensure that you can provide documentation when needed.
Look over all of your grammar and punctuation. Is it correct? If you are unsure, ask someone that you know is good at it. Is your spelling correct? All of these things do make a difference badly written letter are put off to the side sometimes out of frustration before they are paid attention to.
Writing a letter to dispute to credit differences is not particularly hard you just have to be organized. Think things out, and the results will be well worth it in the end!
