Many people wonder about Sendha Namak vs Table Salt when deciding which salt to keep in their kitchen. Both are primarily sodium chloride, but they can differ in processing, texture, flavour and common culinary applications.

Sendha namak, also known as rock salt, is commonly sold as coarse crystals or powder. Its flavour is generally milder, making it suitable for simple dishes and fasting recipes. Table salt is usually finer and, in India, is commonly iodised.

One important point is Sendha Namak Iodine. Most sendha namak does not provide the iodine level associated with iodised table salt. Iodine plays an important role in normal thyroid function, so households should consider their overall dietary iodine sources before completely replacing iodised salt.

There are many practical Sendha Namak Uses. It can be used in fruit chaat, raita, sabudana dishes, potatoes, samak rice and other vrat preparations. It can also be used as a finishing salt for certain snacks and salads.

The best choice often depends on the recipe. Some households keep both types: iodised salt for regular cooking and sendha namak ...
... for fasting or recipes where its flavour and texture are preferred.

Regardless of the variety, total salt intake should remain moderate. Store both salts in dry, covered containers to prevent moisture from affecting their texture.
