What do you think of with the word dining? Is it just a matter of sitting down to eat or is it something you do with a great deal of ritual? In these days where we all seem to be short of time and do everything at top speed, eating is often something we just do to fuel our bodies. The real art of dining seems to have died sometime way back. It is a shame, as proper dining can be one of life's pleasures.

Most of us probably sit down to dine with the family on high days and holidays only. Probably the last time my family all sat together was Christmas! That is quite a sad fact and I bet many of you are exactly the same. I think its time we brought back the art of dining. Imagine a beautiful table, set with sparkling glasses, candles, a cloth, napkins and some fantastic cutlery. dining with all the pomp and circumstance should be something we all do on a more regular basis.

Make the dining start with the visual aspect of the room and table.

Sitting round a set table with your family, talking over your starters, then main course, with a few glasses of wine, what could be nicer? Comfort and good company makes for good dining. So why not make some plans to get your family together or invite some friends round for a dinner party. Part of the pleasure is in the planning of it; plan it all down to the smallest detail. The food, how you set the table and your hosting will make it an evening to remember.

To many people sitting down at a table to eat properly is almost alien!
