In Siargao, in the small, near-unknown town of General Luna, there exists a haven for water enthusiasts known to only a few. It is a secret, the kind of which is akin to your grandmother's secret recipe. Siargao will take you on for a watery ride.

Siargao does not disappoint water sportsmen and nature lovers; it becomes one of the prime destinations for both adrenalin and serotonin. This teardrop-shaped island about 800 kilometers southeast of Manila might be the best attraction in the whole of Mindanao. It is a Philippine travel destination must.

Cloud 9
Up at Tuason Point, very easy to locate is, Cloud 9, considered one of the best, if not THE best surf breaks in the Philippines Islands. The Philippines is an archipelago formation, gilded by powdery shores and surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and South China Sea. With such a formation, one can only dream of what it means by its best.

Storms and pressure areas pass General Luna through the northeast, making them the principal agents for its fantastic waves.

There is plenty to see while diving: reefs are abundant with color and life, fish come in schools and other marine life like starfish and sea snakes adds excitement. In Pansukian, near night time can be a great snorkeling trip for coral reefs. Staying away form the breaks, diving can also be done in Tuason Point.

Quite recently, a huge underwater cave has been discovered under the first rock formations near Tuason, so its definitely worth the inquiry. Guides can lead you to the Blue Cathedral in Caridad too. Unmarred by pollution and overcrowding, underwater visibility is excellent.

Boat Trips and Island-Hopping
Take a boat trip to Sohoton Lagoon, where jungle cliffs abound with stalactites, wild rocks oysters, strange orchids and pitcher plants. A natural cave entrance is the only way into the lagoon, and a guide is practical. For the brave, try Hanoynoy, rocky and jungled, legend says it is the home of forest spirits and wild tarsiers.

Sailing
A bit beyond the breaks, Siargao areas can be one of the most safest and peaceful sailing spots in the country. Rent a paddled barota and see if you can sit back and relax with a few beers on hand, maybe take a breather on an inlet. Just be mindful not to litter, you don't really want to waste all the exquisite attractions do you?

Fishing
Few forget that fishing is a pleasure all on its own. Blue marlin and sailfish come in seasons from March to early May, but snappers ans sea trout can be reeled in anytime. Complete your Philippine travel with a sumptuous seafood dinner in the islands, perfectly fresh and bountiful. Tuna, Spanish mackerel an skipjack can be caught, cooked and eaten in a matter of hours apart, maybe minutes.

Siargao offers a wide option of activities not just concentrate don water sports- there are also avenues for shopping, mountain biking and a relaxed night life. Perfect- adrenalin by day and pleasure by night.
