It is something like this, the application gets message from the adapter which is then passed on to the BME (BizTalk Messaging Engine) which is further sent to the various parts of the application through a pipeline. Pre and post processing which have to occur in the application occur in the pipeline. They can be edited using the Pipeline Editor. Receiving pipelines convert the message into XML before forwarding further and also support certificate resolution and decoding. Message sending pipelines are useful for converting the XML messages received to non XML messages. They can also be used for encoding messages.
