Purchasing a car for the first time or not purchasing for the first time you need to consider a car warranty. Car warranties ensure a number of things on your new purchase. An auto warranty will save you an endless amount of money if something breaks down within the time frame you have set up for your warranty.

When you walk into a car lot and find a vehicle that catches your eye, check the type of car warranty that comes with the vehicle. Many warranties cover non-wear items up to three years or thirty six thousand miles. Other auto warranties cover repairs up to ten years or one hundred thousand miles.

A new car warranty has two parts, the bumper to bumper and power train warranty. The bumper to bumper warranty covers everything except wear such as brakes and tires. The power train warranty covers parts that make the car move such as transmission and engine. Many buyers purchase an extended warranty which extends the bumper to bumper warranty. Extended warranties are often called factory warranties because factory trained technicians work on the vehicle should something go wrong. There are also many third party ...
... warranties but you will need to proceed with caution as many of them require out of pocket payments before reimbursement.

There are things that will void your auto warranty. Misuse of a vehicle will void your car warranties. Misuse of a vehicle consists of racing, overloading the vehicle and anything that shows misuse of the vehicle. Even if there is no proof of misuse but it is suspected the warranty will be voided.

Another way to have an auto warranty voided is due to floods, fire and earthquakes. Any of these environmental problems will void auto warranties.

Altering the odometer will void warranties. Do not replace, disconnect or tamper with the odometer in any way. If any of the mentioned things are done the dealer will not get the exact mileage for the vehicle.

Neglecting the vehicle, using dirty or improper fluids and aftermarket parts or modifications will void car warranties.

By avoiding mishaps your warranties will stay in place. Read all fine print before purchasing auto warranties. If you are unclear of what is covered ask questions ahead of time so there will be no surprises later. Keep all records and receipts handy when you go to scheduled maintenance repairs. A good place to keep records is in a glove compartment box.
