Conducting A Bar Mitzvah Ceremony
Bar Mitzvah marks a momentous event in the life of a thirteen year old Jewish boy. It is the culmination of his Jewish education and the celebration of his transition from being a child to becoming a full-grown man. Although bar mitzvahs are often thought out as a big party, it translates more than that.
Bar Mitzvah celebrations are very meticulous that it takes months or even a year of preparation before the event takes place. It is a celebration of the young man's spiritual awareness as it is the start of the day where he is commanded to follow the Jewish laws and become accountable to their own actions.
A religious ceremony is held on the day or days after the actual thirteenth birthday of the boy, depending upon the Jewish calendar. Practices performed during a bar mitzvah include the speech of the boy about the Torah and his commitment to the Jewish laws and values. His father will also make his speech about being freed from his responsibilities on the child as the child is now responsible for his own actions.
After the religious ceremony, an israel bar mitzvah ...
... reception follows the event. Friends and families of the bar mitzvah attend and celebrate with the boy. A celebratory meal is served, guests can dance and the party is very similar to that of a wedding reception. Customary gifts are given to guide the young boy in his journey to the adult life like money, which he can use for his education and future endeavors while a portion of it is donated to a charity of his choice.
Just like any other celebrations, israel bar mitzvah ceremonies are extravagant in nature. Themed parties can be done and they are usually related to the interests of the celebrant. It makes the planning all the more easier since the food, decorations, invitations and party favors should all go with the decided theme. However, it should be remembered that celebratory parties are not required and that the boy will become a bar mitzvah when he turns thirteen years old.
Although parties are done in modern israel bar mitzvah celebrations, it should be noted that the party should not overpower the religious service as it is the central element in the whole bar mitzvah celebration.
