If you like traveling abroad, then looking for items that will serve as mementos is one of the things you wrote down in your itinerary. And just like how you prepare for your vacation and the things you need to accomplish before you leave, you also need to prepare when you shop for souvenir items you want to give to your loved ones back home.
Remember to travel light. In Israel, you will be visiting lots of different places and there's always the chance of buying something you'll be bringing home in places you visit. And when you get home, you do not want to pay for excess charges because of the tons of souvenir items that you bought. You need more room space in your luggage that will accommodate gifts.
Put your wallet in a safe place. Put it within your reach, where you can easily find it. Not someplace else where it's an eye candy to thieves. Remember, stores are full of different kinds of people and you need to be alert on the important things that you carry. Be a keen observer. Avoid wearing your wallets and bags outside your clothes like side bags as it will scream tourist and might also attract thieves.

... Bring your MasterCard and other cards with you. However, you should also know that they are only useful when you are shopping in department stores and are as much in retail stores. Having available cash in the country's currency is better when you're moving around, but don't bring too much. Look for banks if you want to exchange currency and do not trust money changers on the street.
What you wear shows who you are. When on a Christian holy land tour, shawls are very useful. Wear comfortable clothes that will not scream you're a tourist so you can haggle for a cheaper price. It is also best if you wear flat shoes or rubber shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking and you do not want to end up having corns and calluses after you're done shopping.
Know some words that you can use like "Shalom", among other things. On your Christian holy land tour, typical words that you may be using when you shop include "please", "bank", "yes", and no" in Hebrew.
Have your communication gadgets ready. Be sure to have your emergency numbers with you and put them on speed dial. Even though you're on a Christian holy land tour, shopping places are still not very safe for tourists. Lastly, make sure that your family knows where you're traveling. Leave an itinerary so when something happens, they know where to find you.
