There’s a lot I love about living abroad — the new experiences, the independence, the random discoveries. But there’s also a lot of small frustrations that no one really warns you about. And weirdly enough, one of the most annoying ones? Paying for things back home.

You know the drill. You’re trying to renew your music streaming subscription so you can finally listen to that new album. Or you want to unlock the premium version of a video editing app you’ve been using. Or maybe you just need to top up your gaming account for a quick weekend session with friends from home. And every single time, you hit the same wall: your overseas credit card gets declined. Or the platform requires a local payment method you no longer have access to. Or suddenly there’s a region lock that wasn’t there yesterday.

It’s such a small thing, but somehow it eats up way more time and mental energy than it should.

I stumbled across PayEnjoyNow (乐闪鱼) a few months ago when I was in one of those exact situations — staring at my phone, trying to figure out why my perfectly valid card wasn’t working for a ¥30 ...

There might be more "optimized" solutions involving multiple accounts and virtual cards. But at some point, you have to ask yourself — how much is your time and peace of mind worth?

For me, the answer became pretty clear. I'd rather spend those 20 minutes actually listening to music than troubleshooting why my payment got declined.

So yeah, that's my little discovery. Not life-changing in a dramatic way, but definitely one of those small tools that makes the day-to-day just a bit smoother. And sometimes, that's exactly what you need.
