Battery technology is evolving faster than most industry observers anticipated. Two developments in particular are drawing significant investment and attention: solid-state batteries and sodium-ion chemistry.
Solid-state batteries replace the liquid electrolyte found in conventional lithium-ion cells with a solid material. This change enhances energy density, reduces the risk of thermal runaway, and extends battery lifespan. Automakers see solid-state technology as the long-term path to vehicles with greater range and safer performance.
