Is VinFast Safe? ADAS, Airbags & 5-Star Engineering for Chennai Roads
We all know the reality of driving in Tamil Nadu.
You can be the best driver in the world, but you can’t control the share auto cutting across three lanes in Guindy. You can’t control the pedestrian darting out from behind a bus in T. Nagar.
In the past, "Safety" just meant wearing a seatbelt.
In 2026, Safety means driving a car that can see, think, and react faster than you can.
At Maansarovar VinFast, safety isn't an "optional extra." Both the VF6 and VF7 are built to meet rigorous international safety standards (targeting NHTSA & Euro NCAP 5-Star ratings).
Here is how VinFast technology protects you and your family from the unpredictability of our roads.
ADAS Level 2: Your Co-Pilot in Traffic
"ADAS" stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
It sounds technical, but on the OMR IT Corridor, it is a lifesaver.
Both the VF6 (Plus) and VF7 come equipped with a suite of sensors and cameras that constantly scan the road.
1. Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB)
The Scenario: You ...
... are driving near Tidel Park. Suddenly, a bike swerves in front of you and brakes hard.
The Tech: Before your foot can even hit the brake pedal, the VinFast detects the collision risk and applies full braking force automatically. It stops the car instantly, preventing a crash.
2. Blind Spot Detection
The Scenario: You are changing lanes on the ECR, but a small scooter is hidden in your blind spot.
The Tech: An alert light flashes on your side mirror (and a sound chimes) warning you: "Don't turn yet!"
3. Door Open Warning
The Scenario: You park on a busy street in Coimbatore and your child opens the rear door just as a cyclist is coming.
The Tech: The car senses the approaching cyclist and warns you immediately, preventing the door from opening into traffic.
The "Iron Shell": Build Quality
Tap the door of a VinFast. It doesn’t sound tinny; it sounds like a vault.
While many cars sold in India are "lightweighted" for fuel efficiency, VinFast cars are built on a global platform designed for the US and European markets.
High-Strength Steel: The chassis is reinforced to withstand heavy impacts.
Battery Protection: The battery pack isn't just a power source; it’s a structural element located at the bottom of the car. This lowers the Center of Gravity, making the car incredibly stable (and almost impossible to roll over) on sharp highway curves.
Inside the Cabin: 6+ Airbags Standard
We don't believe safety should be a luxury.
Whether you buy the VF6 or the VF7, you are protected by a comprehensive airbag system:
Driver Airbag
Passenger Airbag
Side Curtain Airbags (Protecting heads of front and rear passengers)
Side Thorax Airbags
e-Call: Help is Automatic
What happens if you do get into an accident?
In a severe crash, you might be too shocked or injured to call for help. The VinFast e-Call System takes over.
Automatic Trigger: If the airbags deploy, the car automatically dials Emergency Services (and the VinFast 24/7 Roadside Assistance team).
GPS Location: It sends your exact GPS coordinates to the response team so an ambulance can find you immediately, even on a remote highway.
Designed for Families (ISOFIX)
For young parents in Anna Nagar and Besant Nagar, child safety is #1.
All VinFast models come with ISOFIX Child Seat Anchors as standard.
Why it matters: Seatbelts are for adults. ISOFIX allows you to lock a baby car seat directly into the car’s chassis, ensuring it doesn’t move an inch during sudden braking.
The Verdict
You can’t change the traffic in Chennai. But you can change what you drive through it.
When you drive a VinFast, you aren't driving alone. You have sensors watching your blind spots, cameras watching the road, and a steel cage protecting your loved ones.
Come test the tech.
Ask for a demo of the Blind Spot Monitor during your next test drive. It’s a feature you will never want to drive without again.
