Websites unlike other promotional business tool needs re-designing or re-structuring after certain period of time. This is not a novel concept, as you would come across many sites that have done for this transformation. People who are interested in getting this done on their website would wonder how to go about it and what have to be done for it?

There are five different things which can be done to a website if you want to change the way it looks or functions.

- Redesigning a website is most basic thing done to it. Here the designer just alters the old look of the site and gives new face to it. Site structure is not disturbed here. When you do not want to change the structure and content of the website and just wants to change the design only, re-designing is the best option.
- Another option for a website is restructuring it, here the designing part is not disturbed. It means that the design is left same, but the content is re-structured. For website owners who are satisfied with the web design but want to improve structure and site flow should go for website re-structuring.
- Rethinking is another ...
... process to do for a website. It is much more than just redesigning or restructuring it. This process involves thinking once again on the lines of the goal of your website for which it was created. You may consider doing necessary changes in the content, structure as well as the design so that it stays on the path of accomplishing the planned goals. This step is extremely useful when your online business is not giving results as expected or loss is there. It revamps the entire approach you take towards fulfilling your aims.
- Next approach can be of ‘realignment', which can also be positive thing to be done to a website. Here the original goal is not revised, it remains the same. To meet it, necessary changes are made to the structure and content of the site. Realignment also gives data about the changes that have been made in the site from its origin.
- Last but not the least is ‘rebranding', this is a very broad approach in itself. Here the redesigning is done for every part of a website. For instance content, logo, design, structure, etc are designed again for rebranding a company and market it in different way.
