Places To See While In Mumbai - These Are Fine

If you have ever been on a business trip to a bust city like Mumbai before, you might just understand the effects of the hustle and bustle on your entire system. As we wound up our last meeting, some of my business associates wanted to know if I had taken out time to get to know Mumbai better. Of course not! ‘Seeing Mumbai' cannot exactly be squeezed into an almost round the clock meeting seven day routine especially after lengthy cheap flights to Mumbai. Nevertheless, I needed to see Mumbai, at least for bragging back home in the United States. My business associates were all geared up to see ‘all of Mumbai' like that is possible.

Mumbai is a wonder to behold. It is a thriving city with so much happening at once. To think I always though New York is busy! It seems that not much has changed in terms of the passion for work since the city was founded as a trading post. ... compare cheap flights. The city is practically on steroids and the people seem to go like clockwork. It is really amazing. I have to warn that space will not allow me to provide all the places that you can visit in Mumbai but I will do as much justice as I can.

A . Juhu Beach: This is a stretch of about five kilometers and I had the opportunity to take the stiffness out of my legs after long hours sitting in meeting by taking a long walk. Camel rides abound along with pony rides and even various performers. Wonderful place for relaxation and getting in tune with the local populations.
B . Elephanta Island: We were able to access the island by a brief ferry ride and taking your bearing from the Gateway if India, it is located about nine kilometers out to sea. The major attraction on this island is the rock-cut Shiva temple situated on it. It is truly beautiful.
C . Marine Drive: I really enjoyed the marine Drive best at night when the street lights came on. It became very evident then why it is called the ‘Queen's necklace'. It actually sparkles and this ‘necklace' links the corporate towers of Nariman Point to the residential villas of Malabar Hill along the waterfront. It is truly a sight to behold.
D . Prince of Wales Museum: This was a getaway for us as it is sited far from the ‘maddening crowd' of Mumbai. It is ensconced among lush greenery and a beautiful landscape. The collection of artifacts here range from rare coins to sculpture and weaponry of diverse kinds.
E . Gateway of India: If I had missed this, I doubt if I would have forgiven myself at all! It was actually constructed as a commemoration of the visit of the King George V and Queen Mary to Delhi for the Delhi Durbar of 1911. Graceful is the best word to describe it and remains so still. I was told by one of my business associates that the very last of the colonial soldiers marched under this magnificent arch to their ships after India secured independence. This explains the sentimental significance it has for the natives of Mumbai.
