Apple has approached the Delhi High Court seeking an order to restrain India’s antitrust regulator from demanding its global financial data amid an ongoing investigation into its App Store practices.

The US-based technology company is embroiled in a high-stakes legal dispute with the Competition Commission of India (CCI), which has accused Apple of abusing its dominant position in the app marketplace -- an allegation the company has firmly denied.

According to court filings, Apple has urged the court to direct the CCI to pause all proceedings and refrain from acting against it at this stage. The request follows a private order issued by the watchdog on December 31, seeking Apple’s financial records.

Apple has challenged the validity of India’s 2024 antitrust penalty rules, arguing that the use of global turnover to calculate fines could expose it to penalties of up to $38 billion. The company contends that being compelled to disclose its financials while this challenge is pending would effectively negate its core legal arguments.
