Most people do not jump with excitement at the thought of sitting in a dental chair. For many Australians, the nerves kick in long before the appointment even begins. You feel the tight shoulders, the racing thoughts, and that familiar “I really do not want to be here” feeling.

This is exactly where the “laughing” gas” (as yes! It literally makes you laugh!) or also known as

“Happy” Gas, steps in and turns the whole experience into something surprisingly calm and comfortable.

“Laughing” gas, also known as nitrous oxide sedation has been in use for many years in Australia to help people feel relaxed during their dental treatment. It is safe, gentle, and works within moments. More importantly, it takes away that anxious edge that so many people feel. Instead of stressing about every sound and sensation, you settle into the chair with ease.

How the “laughing” Gas Works
The process is simple. You breathe in a small mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide through a light mask that sits comfortably on your nose. Within a few minutes, you start to feel lighter. Your body relaxes. Your ...
... breathing becomes easier. Many people describe the feeling as warm, floaty or peaceful. You are awake the whole time. You can talk and respond normally. You are simply more at ease.

When treatment is completed, you breathe regular oxygen for a few minutes and the effects wear off quickly. You walk out feeling clear, calm, and in control. It is one of the safest relaxation options used in dentistry today.

Why Aussies Love It?
Australia has a very relaxed, easy-going lifestyle. We love comfort, and we do not like fuss. Laughing/ Happy gas fits perfectly into that approach. You do not need to prepare for it. You do not need anyone to drive you home. It does not leave you feeling groggy. It simply helps you get through your appointment without stress.

Who benefits most from happy gas?

Happy gas is ideal for:

• People who are anxious at the dentist

• Any person who has had uncomfortable dental experiences in the past

• Patients who require longer treatments

• Kids who feel frightened or restless

• People who easily gag or have strong gag reflexes from dental sensations

It is also helpful if you simply want your visit to be more pleasant. Dental care does not need to be stressful. If something can make your appointment smoother, why not use it?

A Better Dental Experience from Start to Finish
This small comfort can make a big difference for the fearful patient. Instead of putting things off until a problem becomes painful, happy gas allows you to get the care you need in a friendly, non-threatening way.

When you can relax, your whole experience changes. Your dentist can work more smoothly. You breathe easier. Your muscles loosen up. Even the sounds of the clinic feel less intense. Everything becomes manageable. Many people who try laughing /happy gas once choose to use it again, because it makes such a noticeable difference.
