The Directorate of Education (DoE) has recently updated the age criteria for Delhi school admissions. According to the new guidelines, a child must be at least 3 years old by March 31st of the year in which admission is sought.
The revised structure introduces LKG and UKG as separate stages and implements a 6+ years age requirement for Class 1. The DoE has clarified that this new framework will be applied gradually from the 2026-27 academic session, and current students will remain unaffected.
