The market of netbooks has experienced a tremendous rise in terms of growth, potential and scalability. The mobile solution to computing has been embraced both in the personal workspace as well as corporate houses, making them a success all around. However, the compact design and form factor has always meant a compromise on the raw processing power of the device. The previous generation of netbooks using the Intel single core N450 processors or its variants fell short in resource intensive applications. This is the precise problem that Intel plans to eliminate through its new range of dual core Atom processors for the new netbooks shipped to the market.
Before moving onto the details, it is best to take a look at the bare bones tech sheet of the processor that has been the talking point of the tech world. The new Intel Atom 550 dual core processors have a clock speed of 1.5Ghz, a cache of 1MB and two cores to be utilized. The addition of extra core means a huge leap in performance that can set the benchmark for netbooks in years to come. The dual core processor can work with more intense applications and produce improved ...
... results. Enthusiasts will be looking to overclock their processors to squeeze out the best performance while normal users will appreciate the significant gain in performance and speed.
Some of its best features lie when one is looking under the hood of the specs. It has a TDP or thermal design power of 8.5W making it more energy efficient and valuable. The dual core technology also means lesser load on the netbooks and fewer problems related to overheating. The surprising positive comes in the form of the memory support as the chipset has support for DDR3 RAMS. This is a feature only found in the recent Pine trail chipsets for the desktop so netbook owners have no reason to feel left out of the latest benefits on offer.
A combination of DDR3 RAMS and dual core processors mean a burst of productivity across business circles. Presentations and development can become a lot faster while memory management issues slowly recede into oblivion. For the casual user, the mix of high definition multimedia and hardcore gaming can become a reality with the latest netbook models that also feature high end nVidia or ATI GPU cards to complete the architecture.
Keeping so many features in the new processor is not an indication of a change in the form factor. Netbooks will continue to rely on the ultra portable design while gaining chipset power for a better performance. You can enjoy all the benefits that made netbooks so popular and combine it with the latest architecture to unleash the true power of mobile computing. Intel's worldwide support and release of the processor through major brands like Acer, Lenovo, ASUS and Samsung. You can expect full support for Adobe flash, better responsiveness to gaming and applications and a thoroughly enjoyable experience on your netbook. The new processors are also equipped for a longer battery life so that your creations can go on for as long as you want.
