On September 30, the 13th edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will kick off, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Historically, Australia has been the most successful team with 7 titles, followed by England with 4, and New Zealand with 1. However, this edition is expected to be the most fiercely contested yet, with several strong teams vying for the coveted trophy. India, having reached the finals twice before, is especially eager to win their maiden World Cup title. Playing on home turf has made India a formidable opponent for any team. The Indian squad boasts talented batters like Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Harmanpreet Kaur. In particular, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Mandhana, who have both featured in previous World Cups, have impressive batting records. In this article, we will take a closer look at the Indian women players who have scored the most centuries in Women’s World Cup history.

1. Harmanpreet Kaur (3 centuries)

The Indian captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has scored three ODI World Cup centuries in her career. Her first century came against England in the 2013 World Cup, where she ...
... made 103 runs. Despite her outstanding performance, India fell short and lost the match by 32 runs, chasing a total of 273. Harmanpreet Kaur’s second World Cup century was a spectacular 171 off 115 balls against Australia in the 2017 semi-final. India posted a massive 281 runs in 42 overs, and Australia managed 245, allowing India to advance to the World Cup final. Her third century came during the 2022 World Cup against the West Indies, where she scored 109 off 107 balls. Alongside Smriti Mandhana’s 123, they shared an impressive 184-run partnership for the fourth wicket. India scored 317/8 and went on to win by 162 runs against the Caribbean team.

2. Smriti Mandhana (2 centuries)

The second name on this list is India’s vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, who has scored two ODI World Cup centuries. One of her most memorable centuries came against the West Indies during the 2022 World Cup, where she scored a brilliant 123 runs, contributing to India’s total of 317/8 and a convincing 162-run victory. She also scored a century against the same team in the 2017 World Cup. In that match, the West Indies set a target of 184 runs, and Smriti responded with an impressive 106 off 108 balls, guiding India to a 7-wicket win. Smriti is set to be the biggest hope for the Indian Women’s Team in the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, and she is determined to deliver her best performance in the tournament, no matter what.

3. Mithali Raj (2 centuries)

Mithali Raj, widely regarded as one of the greatest batswomen in women’s cricket history, has two World Cup centuries to her name. Her first ODI World Cup century came against arch-rivals Pakistan during the 2013 tournament, where she scored 103 runs off 141 balls while chasing a target of 193. Her second century was scored in the 2017 World Cup against New Zealand, where she made 109 runs. Thanks to her outstanding innings, India posted a total of 265 runs, and New Zealand were subsequently bowled out for just 78 runs.
