Most people usually don't think about taking a vacation to Antarctica. Very few people have any knowledge that in fact people are capable of taking an Antarctica cruise or that such a thing exists. With being the fifth largest continent on Earth, Antarctica is roughly covered with ice all around. Even now there are still no humans that live in Antarctica though there are a few small community basses there. The bases are mostly scientists who are there to study and research the land for the government in hopes of discovering something unique about the place. On the cruise, scientists will tell you what all they have been studying, what they're currently researching, and what their main future goals are for the continent. The cruises are usually scheduled from November to March as this is usually the warmest time to go to Antarctica.

There are actually a few interesting places that you should consider visiting while there. An interesting place that most tourists tend to go to is Deception Island. It is a volcanic caldera and it's also home to numerous chinstrap penguins. Torgerson Island is another destination to go in ...
... order to see Adelie Penguins. Port Lockroy is not only home to the Gentoo Penguins, but it's also where Antarctica's only post office is located.

Some of the Antarctica cruise allow visitors time to explore the land however they want to. Since you will be given enough time (such as a day or two) to explore the area, you may want to try to take a glacier walk with a professional who knows the area. Skiing is the most popular activity to do amongst tourists. Rockclimbing is another fun activity, yet a professional has to be there because you may be dealing with ice and ice can be fragile.
