At the eastern end of Bodrum you''ll find the beach, which has been augmented by authorities in recent years. Overlooking the harbour and marina is Bodrum Castle, which was built by the Crusaders in the 15th Century. Bodrum Castle is well worth visiting as an architectural and historical attraction in its own right, and additionally, is now home to the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. The Museum has a vast collection of artefacts taken from the many shipwrecks that now rest on the bottom of the Aegean Sea, wrecks that have accumulated over literally thousands of years. The Museum of Underwater Archaeology and is in fact the largest collection of its kind in the world, and a worthy diversion from the beach.
