Experience Sunny Beach
The popular Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach in Bulgaria is an attractive destination with holiday-makers from all over, not least the British. A perfect beachside destination in close proximity to some of the country''s best historical buildings and cultural highlights, you can be sure of a great holiday if you head there for your taste of the summer sun.
Its smooth, sandy beaches are iconic, promising the kind of luxuriant sunbathing experience and beautiful vistas that you can expect only at the best holiday resorts. The rolling sand dunes, fresh sea air and the mountains nearby all combine to make it a great place to while away the days, whilst the choice of accommodation in the area is great, offering something for everyone''s budgets and tastes.
More and more people are heading to Bulgaria as they reckon eastern European destinations are generally cheaper than the more obvious summer sun destinations on the Mediterranean. Certainly you can find good places to eat and drink, excellent value hotels in which to stay, and always you''ll be greeted with the hospitality of the locals. All of this makes Sunny Beach ...
... an attractive destination for all kinds of travellers, not least families looking to enjoy their summer holiday.
Around Sunny Beach, there is so much to see and do if you''re looking for something more active than lazing in the sun. You could go on a tour taking you to historic Nessebar, a town on the rocks which has the distinction of being a UNESCO World Heritage site, with ancient fortress walls, medieval churches and old wooden houses, an artistic heaven.
Alternatively you could choose to head to the beautiful city of Sofia and explore some of its world-famous attractions, or head to the Rila Monastery, where you can enjoy dinner and wine-tasted in the period monastic environment and stay the night before witnessing morning service.
At the restaurants in the area you can savour some of the local dishes: traditional Bulgarian plates such as shopska salad, kebapcheta and kavarma are enjoyed all over the resort along with sparkling white and red wine and topped off with some lovely Bulgarian yoghurt for desert. With more than one hundred and fifty restaurants around Sunny Beach, there is something for everyone.
And Sunny Beach doesn''t shut down when the sun sets either. The local nightlife scene is thriving, as you would expect from a resort which welcomes its foreign visitors. At clubs like the Variety Bar you can enjoy drinks among friends both old and new, or head to the Russian Troika or restaurant or even the Fregatata, which is a period ship converted to a trendy and popular bar.
At Sunny Beach, it really is in the name: a great summer sun destination perfect if you want to spend lazy days in the beach or get up and about and see a beautiful country in all its glory.
