Before Bringing Home A Harley Davidson Chopper, Understand Its Basics

The first thing to strike your mind when you hear the name “chopper” is a Harley Davidson motorcycle with huge hefty parts and macho looks to cause heads turn on roads.
As its known by now, whenever people imagine about choppers, Harley Davidson bikes in Brisbane are what they start to visualise. But in case of a Bobber, a lot of questions arise, because Bobbers are related to a lot of names in the industry starting from Harley Davidson, Triumph and various other magnificent names in the market. There is no particular name in the industry you can relate these bikes with; whereas in case of their handsome cousin, people can only visualise a Harley Davidson bike.
Understanding the chopper bikes
Yes! Choppers aren’t particular motorbikes that Harley Davidson has been selling. It’s the name given to the custom styling of a bike, chiefly those from the Harley Davidson house. It’s not that Choppers or Bobbers, have nothing in common. Like the chopper, the bobber too is a custom styling for motorbikes and there are numerous Harley Davidson bikes that ...
... have undergone transformation under the Bobber category. As in for now, let us be honest, both choppers and bobbers are not any specific model by Harley Davidson, although the styles especially the former is much related to the biking giant.
Focussing on the chopper
Choppers are modified motorbikes and if you were thinking that these are showroom models rolled out by the company, then you have completely mistaken the concept. It is a modified motorcycle which undergoes refabrication as per the taste and preferences of its owner. Often you will find a chopper sport a different wheelbase than a normal Harley Davidson bike. It rather means that the frame of the motorbike has further been adjusted, where the wheels are kept further apart from each other. If you closely notice a Harley Davidson bike in Brisbane and a chopper of the same category, you will find that the length of both motorcycles is not same. Rather a chopper is lengthier.
The steering head angle of a chopper is further altered; whereby the engineers also bring in a larger or longer front fork which eventually makes the wheelbase longer than usual.
Coming back to the topic, choppers need proper manoeuvring, which most of the time lead the fabricators to focus on the steering. They place a steering head right next to its angled position, at a higher elevation. The most important thing, about a chopper that is undergoing re-engineering, is its frame. Its rather the most significant part which defines its handling characteristics. While creating the most luring chopper, an engineer will ensure its steering is in sound condition and in a position from where it can be handled in a seamless way. In most cases they will include a front fork stabiliser to ease handling of the front fork.
Like other custom styles, Harley Davison bikes in Brisbane, which undergo the chopping style will have all its unnecessary parts eliminated; however, its better to know that chopping doesn’t only involve, elimination of parts because the engineers will mount other necessary inclusions on it like the custom fenders, custom exhausts, custom oil tanks, custom forward controls and the custom fuel tank all of which are meant to add strength and performance to a Harley Davidson bike. Apart from mounting these parts, the fabricators will do alterations with paintwork. Generally in case of a chopper, they will pay more attention towards its paintwork, whereby oodles of efforts are given to make these motorcycles a head-turner on the roads. These bikes have to be aesthetically so impressive, that people will literally give a second look, whenever they bump into one.
After a motorbike has undergone several changes as per the chopper style, its hard to recognise it any more. Choppers will look far different than the original factory rolled out model. Don’t believe it yet? Go and check for yourself at how different they can appear.
When you go and plan to have a chopper for yourself, and when you think of bringing home a Bobber, you will need to get this across your head; while a Chopper is a heavy-metal thing with a larger frame and hefty weight, the Bobber on the other hand showcases a sleeker body with more agility. Besides, choppers can make your wallet go thin.
Understanding what you need, a Chopper or a Bobber
When it comes to choosing between the two, motorcyclists must weigh the consequences of having each of them. But what is most important for them is to first plan on what they need. If you are like one of them, confused between a Chopper and a Bobber, first analyse your budget. You can collect pictures of both bikes and then make a collage out of it. Based upon what looks more eye-catching and functional, you can accordingly order for either a Chopper or a Bobber. In each case however, it is crucial you take a call based on what kind of fenders, handlebars, exhausts, fuel tanks and oil tanks look suitable to you. Remember its not easy to own a Chopper or a Bobber; however, if you ask us, owning a Chopper is a lot more difficult, based on the price you have to pay and the level of maintenance required to keep this giant in sound condition.
