One of the most visited destinations on earth when it comes to family holidays is Orlando in central Florida. A major part of its popularity lies with the fact that it is home to several of the most well known theme parks in the world, including, of course, Disney World.

As well as Walt Disney World, Orlando is also home to the Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld Orlando. These theme parks, and the availability of easy package holidays to the area, have helped to make Orlando the third most visited city in the whole of the US.

The largest theme park in the world, Walt Disney World is also the most visited theme park on earth and most families vacationing in the area make Walt Disney World the main part of their holiday here.

Four theme parks make up Walt Disney World, as well as two water parks, five golf courses and thirty two hotels. Almost all of the hotels in Walt Disney World are owned by the Walt Disney company and have differing Disney themes.

The original Disney park Disneyland is in California, and while this was designed to be a fun day out for all the family, Disney expended this idea ...
... for the Disney World design, creating a park that is suitable for an entire family vacation.

The second biggest resort on Orlando is the Universal Orlando Resort. This is comprised of two theme parks, Universal Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. There are 7 different themed islands in the Universal Islands resort, including the brand new Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

The Universal Studios Florida resort allows you to experience the Universal movies you love as never before. Many of the rides are designed to look and sound exactly like the sets of some of their most popular films, allowing you to step inside the films and enjoy some thrilling rides too.

The third most popular resort in Orland is SeaWorld Orlando. This is a wonderful marine park as well as a theme park, and it is designed to offer an alternative to the thrill rides and film tie ins of Universal and Disney, focusing on allowing children to experience some of the most fascinating marine creatures on earth. Our guide to the unique theme parks of Orlando was written by Bonny Kominek, a professional travel guide. They recommend checking the Octopus Travel website for the latest deals on Orlando hotels, flights and Disney package holidays all year round.
