Rfid Tags Are The Key To Smarter, Faster Business Operations - Poxo
RFID technology has proven its value across industries. It is transforming business processes with self-powered sensors and unhackable supply chains, automating tracking while reducing costs, increasing speed, and providing significant ROI with quick payback periods.
RFID capabilities can track equipment use and maintenance to help prevent equipment loss while decreasing downtime. Tool trolley tags may also ensure operators use only appropriate parts to complete tasks efficiently, helping avoid mistakes while increasing efficiency.
Real-time Inventory Management
RFID tags provide continuous visibility of inventory, which allows team members less time searching for equipment and products, while enhancing decision-making capabilities by identifying damaged or misplaced items. Moreover, the data can more easily identify issues with supply chains and also provide accountability, for example, lost or stolen inventory.
Radio Frequency Identification readers (RFID readers) work by transmitting electromagnetic waves that activate tags, activating them and retrieving their unique ID number ...
... and any additional information stored on the chip. This data is then fed back into systems for inventory updates, shipment verification, and asset tracking - streamlining processes while simultaneously cutting labor costs by eliminating manual counting errors and speeding cycle times, thus cutting down inefficiency costs.
Asset Tracking
RFID-tagged items automatically sync across all locations, eliminating manual reconciliation and providing real-time visibility of inventory for omnichannel fulfillment.
Contrary to barcodes, which must be directly targeted in order for scanning to occur, RFID tags broadcast their unique digital ID to any compatible reader and can therefore be read by staff walking past an item or simply passing by without needing to aim directly at it. This enables staff members to scan it even without being in direct proximity to it.
One employee can now easily inventory an entire room full of equipment with just a handheld scanner, making inventorying much more efficient and reducing risk due to human error by not needing to crawl under desks and behind racks of servers to scan every individual item.
Authentication
RFID tags can help your facility verify who can enter, by requiring people to wear RFID tags and reading their RF signals as they pass an entry or control point like a doorway.
The RF signal is read by either a fixed RFID reader/antenna or a handheld device and sent directly to the server for authentication. Each tag receives a random challenge to its chip, which in response returns with its secret value; then the server communicates with its database of items to ensure its authenticity, all within milliseconds.
At enrollment, multiple features from the transmitted RF signal are collected and their distribution parameters estimated (mean and standard deviation). Once extracted values have been hashed together to create a reference that will later serve as a key for the authentication of future tags enrolled with our system.
Security
RFID tags placed onto products or assets reduce human error while automating inventory management, speeding processes, shortening cycle times, and cutting logistics costs.
RFID tags come in different varieties to suit the unique requirements of each business or organization. Hard RFID tags are designed for harsh environments like manufacturing or transportation and can withstand water, chemicals, and extreme temperatures without suffering damage.
Tamper-proof RFID tags feature breakaway antennae or tamper-evident adhesive, making them ideal for security applications like tracking IT equipment or tools. Tamper-proof tags may also protect sensitive information from unapproved removal or counterfeiting; retail monitoring as well as industrial equipment monitoring is frequently employed with this form of tag; it requires a power source but is commonly found used for logistics, shipping containers, and vehicle tracking applications.
Sustainability
RFID tags are typically made of metals like copper and aluminum that have an adverse environmental impact during production and disposal. These metals are necessary for transmitting radio waves that enable RFID tags to communicate with readers; additionally, traditional etching processes used to produce these chips consume significant energy resources.
RFID tags that are improperly discarded or end up in landfills contribute to electronic waste (e-waste), an ever-increasing problem requiring new approaches and partnerships to address.
Companies are developing designs to make an RFID tag easy to remove from products and packaging, using fewer materials and energy in production. Furthermore, fully printed RFID tags featuring antenna and integrated circuit technologies are becoming an attractive technological solution.
POXO RFID Automation is a leading supplier of RFID solutions RFID readers, and RFID tags, and works seamlessly with reputable RFID tag manufacturers to deliver a complete solution for inventory management, asset tracking, and supply chain optimization. Library Management Solution
