UP Basic Schools Holiday List 2025 – Full Details for Students and Teachers
The Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council (UPBEB) has shared the official list of holidays for the year 2025. This list includes all holidays to be given in government-run basic schools and recognized basic schools across the state.
This holiday calendar is important for students, teachers, school principals, and parents. It helps everyone plan for studies, festivals, travel, and school events in a better way.
Holiday Period
The holiday list is valid from:
1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025
All schools under the control of the UP Basic Education Council must follow this schedule. Schools include:
• Parishadiya (government basic schools)
• Recognized private basic schools
Main Highlights of the 2025 Holiday List
Special Leaves for Female Teachers
Some religious festivals are very important for women. That’s why female teachers are allowed leave on the following days:
• Hariyali Teej (Hari Taalaika Teej)
• Karva Chauth
• Sankat Chaturthi
• Halashasthi / ...
... Lalai Chhath
• Jiutiya Vrat
• Ahoi Ashtami
These holidays are optional and only for women teachers. Other staff members and students will have regular classes on these days.
Pitru Visarjan Leave
On the day of Pitru Visarjan, teachers can take leave to perform family and ancestral rituals. This leave is important in Hindu culture.
• This leave is available for both male and female teachers.
• It is not a general holiday for all students or staff.
No Holiday on Basant Panchami
In 2025, there will be no holiday on Basant Panchami.
• In previous years, schools were often closed on this day.
• But this year, Basant Panchami is not included in the official holiday list.
• So, schools will remain open on that day.
. Navami and Vijayadashami Overlap
In 2025:
• The Navami holiday will be observed on 1 October.
• Vijayadashami (Dussehra) will fall on 2 October, which is also Gandhi Jayanti.
That means only one day of holiday will be given for both Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti. Schools will not have separate holidays for both events.
