The holidays are a time of joy, relaxation, and cherished family moments. But as the break draws to an end, many parents find themselves wondering how to help their children shift back into the rhythm of school life. At Shri Harshad C. Valia International School, we believe a smooth transition is key to ensuring students return refreshed, motivated, and ready to embrace learning.

Here’s a guide to help parents ease their children back into the school routine after the holidays.

1. Re-establish Daily Routines

Holidays often bring late nights and lazy mornings. To help children adapt smoothly, start adjusting sleep and wake-up times at least a week before school resumes. Align meals with the regular school day breakfast around 7:00 AM and lunch post 2:00 PM, mirroring our school’s schedule of 8:00 AM to 2:10 PM (and till 11:30 AM on select Saturdays). A steady routine prepares both the mind and body for the structured school day.

2. Create a Conducive Learning Environment at Home

Having a dedicated, distraction-free study space can greatly enhance concentration. Ensure the study area is quiet, ...
... well-lit, and stocked with basic supplies. This reflects the calm, safe, and supportive environment we aim to provide our students each day. When home and school environments complement each other, the transition becomes seamless.

3. Encourage Open Communication

Talk to your child about how they feel and what they think about going back to school. Some may feel anxious about academic expectations or social dynamics. Encourage them to share, and remind them of the exciting aspects of school be it their favourite subject, friends, or activities like field trips, clubs, and yoga sessions. At SHC Valia, we focus on holistic development, and students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of co-curricular programmes.

4. Reinforce Academic Skills Gently

Reintroducing learning doesn’t mean diving straight into textbooks. Simple activities like reading together, solving puzzles, or revisiting class notes can refresh key concepts. This light academic engagement prevents a learning gap without overwhelming your child, supporting our commitment to steady, value-based academic progress.

5. Promote Physical Activity and Extracurricular Engagement

Physical activity boosts mood and concentration. Encourage your child to get moving whether it’s through a family walk, dance session, or light exercise. At SHC Valia, we integrate physical education through activities like basketball, karate, and yoga, helping students maintain mental and physical balance.

6. Set Realistic Goals

Work with your child to set short-term academic and personal goals for the new term. Whether it’s improving handwriting, being punctual, or making new friends, goal-setting builds confidence and accountability. At our school, we nurture these qualities to help students grow into responsible, self-aware individuals.

Last words for our dear parents

Returning to school after the holidays doesn’t need to be stressful. With structure, encouragement, and a bit of planning, children can slide back into their school routine with ease. As always, SHC Valia International School(https://shcvaliaintschool.in/) stands by every child’s side, nurturing a love for learning and life.
