The job description of a purchaser will depend on what type of industry he or she belongs in. However, there are basic functions of a purchaser that is included in every industry. This article will tackle those functions in a glance so that those who are planning to apply a job as a purchaser will have an idea on what tasks await them.

The purchaser should be able to draft and implement an import plan. They should be capable in selecting and negotiating with various suppliers. The suppliers chosen should be able to produce high quality materials at an affordable price. It is the job of the purchaser to establish a good working relationship with the suppliers in order to gain priority in terms of deliveries and even to acquire discounts.
