The pilgrims were flagged off by Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh from the newly built Kailash Mansarovar Bhawan in Indirapuram. This facility also hosted the pilgrims for a few days of orientation, medical tests, and final preparations. Their journey follows the Nathu La Pass route through Sikkim, covering nearly three weeks of travel to reach the holy Mansarovar Lake and Mount Kailash, believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva.
What makes this batch historic is not just its size, but the spirit of the pilgrims. Among them is 66-year-old Tara Kshatriya, a widow from Ghaziabad, undertaking the journey solo to honor her late husband’s wish—symbolizing deep faith and personal courage.
This resumption comes after successful diplomatic dialogues between India and China, allowing the Ministry of External Affairs to reintroduce the Yatra in 2025. The government of Uttar Pradesh has also announced a financial grant of ₹1 lakh for every state resident completing the Yatra, along with spiritual privileges like priority darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
