When our blog is not configured properly, causing a variety of URLs. For example the name of the blog by using the www and without www, home, index.html, etc.. Example http://www.asaepudin.com and http://asaepudin.com/ or http://www.domain.com and http://www.domain.com/index.html

The parameters used in a session id, comment, code tracking, etc.. Example: http://www.domain.com/product.php?item=landing-page1 or http://www.domain.com/product.php?item=landing-page1&trackingid=2742&sessionid=9361

Understanding Canonical URLs according to Google and other search engines are:
A web URL addresses that have been labeled so it is considered as the canonical URL address of the official from some other URL that provides identical content.
Canonical URL will direct the search engine to retrieve web addresses that have been tagged as the canonical version of the official or right of our blog address.

History Canonical URLs
To overcome the problem of duplicate content as above, Google officially announced the use of a canonical labeling function on 12 February 2009. Followed by other search engines like Yahoo and Bing. But still we as the blog owner must determine which official URL by adding the canonical label. That way, search engines will recognize where the official URL and does not take a different URL.

This means that our blog page rank in search engines will increase because all the various URLs that will flow correctly to the page that it should be.
