Porcelain is a type of ceramic highly valued for its beauty and strength. A porcelain vase is often called china or chinaware because it was first made in China. Types of porcelain vases::

Oriental porcelain vases: For centuries, the Chinese were making the world's finest porcelain vases. The Chinese porcelain vase makers perfected the art of creating the famous blue and white underglazed porcelain vases during the Ming period. During the Qing period, the Chinese developed porcelain vases with exquisite patterns and colors and exported them to Europe.

Japanese porcelain vases: Japanese porcelain vases feature simple designs on a white background. A Japanese porcelain vase called Imari vase or Arita is famous for its prolific decorations in deep blue and red colors.

European porcelain vases: The first European soft-paste porcelain was produced in Florence, Italy. The porcelain vases manufactured in Europe started to compete with the Chinese porcelain vases.

French porcelain vases: The most celebrated soft-paste porcelain became known as Sevres. The earliest Sevres porcelain vases had graceful shapes and soft colors. Sevres porcelain vases were decorated with brilliant colors and heavy gilding. Many of these porcelain vases had richly colored backgrounds and white panels painted with birds, flowers, landscapes or people.

Haviland porcelain vases: Haviland porcelain vases feature soft colors that blend like silk and float in small floral patterns.

German porcelain vases: A German chemist named Johann Friedrich Bottger was behind the German manufactured Meissen porcelain that is sometimes called Dresden. Dresden porcelain vases surpass all other hard-paste porcelain vases made in Europe, in quality.

English porcelain vases: England has come to be known as the center for the production of bone china. Most of this English porcelain vases were styled after Oriental and Continental porcelain vase designs.

Worcester porcelain vases: Worcester porcelain vases are one of the oldest and best English porcelain vases. During its early years, the Worcester porcelain vase factory produced soft-paste porcelain vases that were decorated with Chinese designs in blue underglaze. Worcester porcelain vases also come in a variety of colors and patterns.

Spode porcelain vases: Spode porcelain vases feature a large number of designs but are especially noted for their exotic birds creation on them.

Modern porcelain vases: Technical advances enabled the porcelain industry to produce porcelain vases in large numbers. Today, porcelain vases are extensively created in the United States, Europe and Japan.
