A double chin Improper chin liposuction can result in a number of complications. But first, let’s discuss the typical procedure for chin liposuction surgery.

What Is Chin Liposuction?
Chin liposuction is a procedure that eliminates excess fat from the neck, chin, and jaw line. Excess fat in this region might result from heredity, weight gain (weight fluctuation), and age. Keep in mind, however, that chin liposuction is solely intended to remove excess fat. If you have extra skin on your neck, you should consider a neck lift.

Initial chin liposuction operations are easy. Start from a consultation appointment. A surgeon will discuss your goals for surgery. They will next do a brief physical examination to determine the amount of fat around your neck and the flexibility of your skin in this area. If chin liposuction is the best option and you are a good candidate for surgery, they will schedule the procedure.

On operation day, anesthetic will be provided first. Then, the surgeon will make a number of tiny incisions around the target ...
... location. Typically, one incision is done exactly beneath the chin, but two more incisions may be made, one behind each of your ears. These are very small wounds that usually heal well and are barely detectable, even under careful inspection.

After making the incisions, the surgeon will carefully remove the undesirable fat cells with little cannulae (thin hollow metal tubes). The wounds are then carefully closed, and bandages and a compression garment are placed.

What Could Be Wrong With Chin Liposuction?
Complications such as infection, hemorrhage, poor wound healing, and unfavorable outcomes are possible with any form of cosmetic surgery. These concerns are quite improbable if you find a board-certified plastic surgeon who has performed your desired procedure before.

However, issues do arise, and with chin liposuction, the problem is often one of the following:

- Uneven results
Liposuction must be done carefully to ensure that the same amount of fat is removed (and left in place) on both sides of the neck and chin region. If this is not accomplished, you may have a botched chin liposuction treatment and may need to undergo chin liposuction revision surgery.

- Too much fat eliminated (or too small)
Sometimes an excessive quantity of fat is removed, making the patient appear gaunt and unnatural. While persons with extra fat along their necks wish to seem slimmer with a more defined jaw and chin, eliminating too much fat results in an artificial "chiseled" appearance.

Conversely, occasionally insufficient fat is removed, resulting in an outcome that does not meet the patient's desired goals. In any of these botched double chin liposuction cases, revision liposuction or fat transfer may be able to fix the issue;

- Contour irregularities
Finally, there may be lumps, bumps, and weird divots following a chin lipo surgery treatment. In these circumstances, the revision surgeon would need to go back in and recontour the chin and neck area, smoothing out any abnormalities and creating a more natural appearance.

Is It Possible to Fix Failed Chin Liposuction?
It is likely that any cosmetic surgery will meet complications that result in a negative outcome. However, if you find the correct board-certified plastic surgeon with expertise conducting your desired procedure and a track record of success, you are less likely to have difficulties.

If you had chin implant surgery and had a terrible result, search for a plastic surgeon who may be able to address the problem(s) and offer you a better outcome. Performing chin liposuction or chin implant corrective surgery is more difficult than the original treatments (typically owing to chin lipo scar tissue), but it is possible.
