The Foolproof Festival Survival Guide

If you're packing your camping bags and setting off to a festival this year, there's no denying that you'll be in for a weekend of mates, music and chaos. Whether you're hitting the muddy fields of Reading or stomping your way through the night at Global Gathering, make sure you follow the simple rules of our festival survival guide. Besides booze, a tent and your ticket, abiding by the festival survival guide is all you need to get you through a top weekend without any tears!
Stress free Sleeping Arrangements
Whether you're living the true festival dream and setting up home among the masses or opting for a little more luxury, it's essential to make sure all arrangements are made before you put on your party hat. If you are camping, head to the site early to set up. The earlier you get your tent sorted the earlier you can don your fancy dress and let the madness begin. However if you've decided to opt for a little luxury this year at a B-B or hotel, it's essential you organise some transport arrangements prior to a liver load of beer. Taxi companies can charge the earth to get you home safely so try and pre-book ...
... to avoid a huge dent on the pocket!
Basic Hygiene
We all understand the basic rules of hygiene but when you step foot on that field of fun, all cleanliness rules and regulations go out the window. With a mile long queue for the toilets, temperamental showerblocks and a whole heap of mud, it can be near on impossible to feel clean, but include the following lifesavers in your bag and you'll feel relatively normal all weekend. Anti-bacterial sanitizer gel is a must for keeping hands clean if you do manage to use the lavvies. A personal supply of toilet roll is always a good option too, as it can be devastating to find there's no paper left after you've spent a penny or two. Lastly, make sure you stock up on wet wipes; perfect for removing last night's eyeliner, traces of glow in the dark body paint and caked on mud!
Bare Essentials
If you're packing light and going for the full festival experience, all you really need to pack are some spare batteries for your camera and a handy pack of paracetamol. The photos will help memories from the whole weekend last forever and it's always fun reminiscing with friends over the embarrasing mugshots. Just make sure you form a pact about popping bad pictures on Facebook. As for needing paracetamol...just take our word for it!
