Tungsten inert gas welding, shortly known TIG welding is one of the common methods of sheet metal arc gas welding. Many mechanical and engineers and architects have been using this welding process for creating an arc between the base metal and an electrode. In this welding process, we use nonconsumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld.

The implication of a constant-current welding power supply is able to produce energy needed for the arc through a column of highly ionized gas and metal vapors, or plasma. The weld area is protected from the atmospheric contamination by shielding gas, usually known as inert gas. TIG welders can efficiently weld many types of metals including stainless steel, nickel alloys, titanium alloys, carbon steel, aluminum alloys etc. The efficiency of such arc welders can also be utilized in the MIG welding that is very similar to the tig welding. The only difference is that, here the arc is not made of a consumable wire, but it performs with the help of consumable tungsten electrode.

There are some basic requirements for the easy and quality performance of tig welders. This ...
... process requires power source for direct current or alternating current. The welders have to have a high frequency generator in the machine. This technology can maintain a stable arc during the zero voltage in the current cycle. It is a little complex process so high frequency provider can set a path for the welding current through the shielding gas. This power system enables the welding arc to get struck at the time when the electrode and the work piece come closer and stay around 3 mm away.

Welders can use three different TIG welding techniques such as pulse-current, hot wire and dabber. In the dabber technique, arc welders find more accuracy in welding. Here a cold filler wire can be used for feeding. With the help of pulse-current technology, welders need a higher current to get heat around the welding area. The hot wire technique is slightly different from other two. This method takes filler metal to be added during welding and heating continues until the filler reached at the melting point.
