Caleta De Fuste is a purpose built resort town on the island of Fuerteventura. Fuerteventura is one of the Canary Islands, and is just 100 km from the coast of Africa, and on the same latitude as Florida and Mexico. There are 152 beaches on Fuerteventura.

It is perhaps unsurprising given this location that temperatures on Fuerteventura rarely dip below 18 degrees Celsius, whatever the time of year. Peak temperatures are on average around twenty four degrees Celsius. This means of course that the island is just about the perfect temperature range for those that like summer warmth without being roasted alive by sun.

Caleta De Fuste is on the east coast of Fuerteventura, and the location for this resort town was chosen for the sheltered waters of the cove that also give the town part of its name, as ''Caleta'' is the Spanish for cove. To complete the picture, ''Fuste'' is a type of fishing boat. Caleta De Fuste is about 8km from the airport.

The beach is covered in imported golden sand, to cover the natural rocky shoreline so common in the volcanic Canary Islands. The beach and the harbour area are ...
... the focal points of Caleta De Fuste. The beach is generally uncrowded, and so good for families with small children.

Windsurfing is on offer for those who like to get a bit more active when on the beach. The gentle but near constant winds that buffet most of the Canary islands offer the perfect environment for beginners and intermediate level windsurfers.

At the port, you can also experience other water sports such as jet-skiing and diving. Sea excursions are possible both by glass bottomed boat, and catamaran. Each type of vessel has particular advantages, with the glass bottomed boat resembling a submarine, and the catamaran being particularly adept at finding schools of dolphins and whales.

There is also a championship golf course, just 2 km from the beach. Despite being a championship course, the Golf Club Fuerteventura is open to all, meaning that no handicap is required to be able to play.

There are several places to find good seafood of an evening, although the best restaurants for this are generally found on the opposite side of the bay from the port. The family nature of the resort of Caleta De Fuste means fairly a quiet nightlife, although there are several bars that open late into the night. Bonny Kominek is a part time travel writer who lives on Fuerteventura. Bonny Kominek recommends looking at Octopus Travel when researching the options for Caleta De Fuste hotels.
